Keeping up with ChemSpec

What a week! ChemSpec hosted their annual sales meetings in New Philadelphia, OH and invited everyone to join. It was a great week of meetings and fun! We are so thankful to spend the week together celebrating a great year and the upcoming holidays.

Blessings in a Backpack

Every year ChemSpec volunteers to pack snack bags for local kids in need. Blessings in a backpack is a wonderful nationwide organization that provides a weekend snack bag for local kids in the community. Our team was able to pack over 500 weekend bags for our community. We loved being able to give time to a great cause as well as have fun doing it.

Looking forward to 2023

In addition to our team meetings we had a fun team building activity at Airport Ridge Sporting Clays, and the company holiday dinner. It was a wonderful night getting to meet many new hires and their families as well as seeing the out of towners. We also got to record our famous Christmas video which we can't wait to share!. 2022 has had its challenges but it's also been very rewarding. We are looking forward to an even better 2023!

Look for our Christmas video Coming soon!

Stepping out for a Good Cause

ChemSpec was honored to compete in Feet Week sponsored by Clarins. Clarins is a customer of our parent company Safic- Alcan. Safic-Alcan donated money based on the competition’s rankings.  The competition included most steps from a team of 4 participants, the company with the highest number of steps, and to be the first team in all of Safic- Alcan.  The competition supported Foundation Arthritis by raising awareness and supporting medical research on rheumatism and musculoskeletal disease as all money raised from this challenge goes toward this goal.  ChemSpec had 8 teams participate and two teams with honorable mention. Team Feetastic Four ranked 6/275 participants included: Lou Anne Weekley, Tracy Fox, Lucas Moreland, & Hanah Moreland. Congratulations team Feetastic Four on a truly amazing performance for the week. All four walkers averaged about 20,000 steps per day! Team Safic-Ican ChemStep ranked 84/275 participants included: Dave Moreland, Zeb Troyer, John Stephenson, & Brian Sears. Congratulations to all four participants on a great display of dedication.

We are so proud to be part of a company that gives back and look forward to many more friendly competitions in the future. Thank you to all of our walkers, rest up the next competition is right around the corner.

Did you know…

More than 3.5 million women are living in the U.S. with a history of breast cancer. Some of them are cancer-free, while others still have evidence of cancer and may still be undergoing treatment.

I am supporting them by wearing pink and raising money as a REAL MAN WEARING PINK!

Account Manager Moreland helps give back by helping local students attend major trade show

As many customers can attest, Lucas Moreland is a very likeable guy.  It wasn’t any different in high school, where he was popular student and athlete.  Lucas attended a local school in the small town in which he grew up, New Philadelphia High School.  He and his family have strong ties to the local community.  He now lives in the town that he grew up in, and is often still seen at local sporting events; especially varsity football games.  It would be an understatement to say he's supportive of his old high school and the local community.

Marketing Manager / Legal Counsel Wagner recently elected President of local attorney bar association

ChemSpec is proud of how its employees give back to the local community:  Chris was recently elected president of the Tuscarawas County, Ohio Bar Association ("TCBA") for the upcoming year, 2015.

The TCBA engages in various community service projects, including scholarships, Law Day, and High School Mock Trial Competitions. The TCBA also has social events for its members and opportunities for networking and professional development through committee assignments.

ChemSpec Takes Opportunity to Buy 4H Pigs and Donate to Local Homeless Shelter

On September 18th 2014, Kris Moreland of the ChemSpec team attended the Junior Livestock Sale at the Tuscarawas County fair. ChemSpec Polymer Additives purchased three hogs raised by youth members of the Tuscarawas County 4H. Drew Lautzenheiser, Mason Elliott, and Kayla Scott raised and showed the three hogs that were purchased at the auction. After the hogs are processed, ChemSpec has made arrangements for all three of the hogs to be sent to the Homeless Shelter of Tuscarawas County

President Dave Moreland's Daughter is Donating a Part of Her Liver to His Son-In-Law

Dear friends and Colleagues of ChemSpec, As most of you already know, my personal family and my ChemSpec family are very much intertwined in many ways.  Over the past 29 years of being in the rubber industry, I have developed many friendships, and many that are just beginning, which I already cherish deeply. For this reason, my wife, Kris, and I are reaching-out to you on a very personal matter. On July 8th, my son-in-law, Chris Wagner, who has been working with our team for the past one and a half years, will undergo a liver transplant at Cleveland Clinic, and my daughter, Mollie, will be the live-donor.  This is certainly a blessing, but it also creates much anxiety for the family concerning the many potential health risks for both Mollie and Chris. Over the last 11 years, Chris has battled a liver disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (“PSC”); a rather rare autoimmune disease that slowly attacks the bile ducts inside and outside the liver.  In patients with PSC, the bile ducts become blocked due to inflammation, which causes lots of scarring, then cirrhosis, and finally, liver failure.

American Cancer Society's Relay for Life

Our commitment to enriching our community often puts us in contact with people in the area who are working to make a difference in the lives of others. Recently, the Great Lakes Division of the American Cancer Society hosted a Relay for Life Event, and we were happy to rally with the cause. Along with our contribution, we thank all the researchers, caregivers, and activists who strive so valiantly to see cancer diminished and lives restored.
